Lamma outing

What a wonderful day for sharing our funny stories; although I am positive they are not nearly as funny as they are to us.

The boys and I ventured out to Lamma Island this afternoon (again, J working and girls at school) for the last of our "mom time" before heading back to school next week.  It's fun to be lost and clueless in a group, instead of my usual lost and clueless all alone.

This particular island is one of the outlying islands and is very accessible by ferry. We caught the bus and rode to the ferry that would take us over to the island. The ferry wasn't exactly easy to find among the gazillion boats, but we finally saw the "To Lamma Island" sign and boarded for the 35 minute ride over. The sign will become funny on our return trip.

The island is known for the vast array of seafood in tanks from which you choose your meal, so lunch was the first order of business. Lunch was really great and gave us the energy to take a hike on the island.

On the way to the ferry we took these two photos of the fish and the bird.  I thought the fish made a great shot, and Ellis thought the bird was a bird someone must have caught or rescued, but I can't remember what kind of bird this is. The boy knows his birds.

The ferry over to the island was truly comfortable today because it wasn't 105 degrees with 100% humidity. But, I'm still sweating, and it's October for crying out load.

We decided none of these fish were right for us today. We just asked for shrimp without the viewing.

The banana trees are great, but the tv in the banana tree was a mystery.

Okay, remember the "To Lamma Island" sign that we noticed as we were getting on the ferry to leave?
Well, that made sense to all.  But, when we returned to Hong Kong Island and disembarked, we were facing this sign. It reads, "Welcome to Lamma Island, Come Again Soon."  What? Didn't we just leave Lamma Island? Kuddos to Forrest for keeping his head up, so we could snap a quick picture. If I could have been sly, I would have snapped a photo of a t shirt (but a girl was wearing it) that read, "I Want to be Your Girlfriends."  You've got to love the use of "s" here, always giving or taking, but rarely in the right place.
